Fun times.

Joey and Blaine were challenged when it came to the fireplace in the lodge. Finally, on the second night they lucked out. I think it had something to do with their matching outfits and purchase of a fire starting log.

Ms. Nancy sent us up with gumbo and wine. Yummy!

Here is Slick Rick, who's apparently he's an old school rapper from the 90's. He charged 30 bucks per ticket and was on stage for a total of 30 minutes at the good ol' Wobbly Barn. I personally didn't see what the big deal was. Blaine showed us videos of him on youtube, and I wound up falling asleep. :)

Pretty Pictures.

On my weather widget this morning, it read 3 degrees! That's of course actual temperature, not including wind chill. We surprisingly don't get very cold until we're on the ski lift approaching the top part of the mountain. It's the icy wind that gets you, which is why I invested in a much needed ski mask yesterday.

Current status for Melissa is: taking a break!

The guys are probly doing black/double black mountains mixed with some tree runs. (scary!) I did a few (green) slopes this morning, then came back to the lodge to grab snow boots and my camera. I walked around and got a few nice shots.

I'll post more later. This is just a sneak preview :)

This is where my traumatic event occurred yesterday..... :'(

For obvious reasons, I don't take my camera with me to the top of the mountain. It's kind of unfortunate thought, because the view from up there is breath taking. Huge fir trees are covered in white snow, and you have an amazing view down. I got these shots with my telephoto lens from our ski lodge. You can kind of see the trees?

The mountain is separated into 3 colors. The top is frozen with firs, the bottom is different/dead trees, then the middle is a mix.

A view of a group of skiers in line for the lift.

Whenever I see people out here smoking I'm a little surprised. I mean, aren't your lungs suffering enough with the altitude change and harsh weather?

Tonight we are going to the Wobbly Barn to see an old school rapper, Slick Rick, perform. Should be interesting.

Vermont.

For Christmas, Ms. Nancy gave Joey the hookup: 4 train tickets to Killington, VT completed with ski rentals/lift tickets!

Currently it's in the low teens. The wind was brutal at the top of the mountain today.....brutal! But other than that, we weren't too cold because of all of the extensive layering.

It's so beautiful. Icicles hanging from roofs, blue skies, and trees covered in snow.

Shockingly enough, I haven't used my camera up here yet. Blaine has a small camera and took quite a few. I'l post them when he sends them over.

I had a traumatizing event happen on the mountain. I'll save that for another post though. :)

Again, gracias Ms. Nancy!

My day.

Ladies and gentleman,

When I got home from work today, I was greeted by this:

Joey was using our brand new vacuum cleaner! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) Impressive, cause I'm not even that domesticated...

Here are some shots from my window, while the IT guy took forever to "fix" my computer.

I took these with my brand new iphone, which is the greatest thing ever created. I have safari, imail, an ipod, camera, games...and oh yeah, a phone!

(bored post!)

Modern Art/Photography at the Met.

One of my favorite places of all time is the Met. No matter how many times you've been there, you always discover something new. Then the things you've seen a million times feels like home in a way.

Some of you (Ms. Nancy I know you will) may recognize this picture from our visit last January. I used Joey's iphone at the time to get the shot, but re-took it today to get better quality. It's Andy Warhol's painting of the Chinese communist Mao Zedong.

One of my favorites. So simple, but so bold. We think this was designed by the people at Home Depot :)

The reason for this visit was to try and get some inspiration for my portfolio. I'll write about that another day. It seems like it's going to be more of a challenge than expected.

Oh, and did you know the Met allows you to pay any amount? It's suggested for adults to pay 20 bucks each, but we always pay what we feel is right. Like for today we paid 5 bucks for both of us since we were only in there for an hour or so. On the way out we gave our pins to a family, so they basically got 2 free passes.

Remember the photographer, Gregory Crewdson, that we saw while eating at Pastis? Yeah, his work is in the Met! We saw it in the photography section today.

Only in New York...

Will you find a perfectly fine TV out for trash pickup...

Moving on...

"The most avid readers of the year"-my Aunt Carol and Uncle Charlie! I know that the rest of you are shocked that other readers exist. Did you know when you click on "comments" you will hear crickets chirping ;) He really enjoys my political posts (tee hee) and I think she enjoys seeing the quirky side of me.

So here is their debut-

Joey already introduced Buster and Layla in a previous post, but I'm gonna add some more pictures. Buster's name sums up his personality very nicely.

Layla's face! Buster's tongue! Gosh, they are cute!

For those who said I'm wasn't an angel as a child...I have proof that says otherwise.

While I was home, we went down to see Fulton St. decorated for Christmas. On the way home, I got some really cool pictures while we were stuck in traffic. I think most of these were from Royal St.

This one looks like it's from San Francisco.

On a very bored night, Alli decided to give me a makeover... that involved red lipstick. EEK! I don't know how people can wear it. You must need an uber amount of confidence, I just wound up feeling like a clown....and I hate clowns!
