1/2 Marathon.

Our friend Jeneva did a half marathon this morning in Central Park! Luckily all the marathons/races end right by Tavern on the Green, which is right by our apartment. So we moseyed on over to be moral support.

On the weather widget last night, it was warmer here than New Orleans. It was so hot this morning, they cancelled the full marathon and made it a "fun run" versus a race. Right now, it's 89 degrees....what happened to the 70's? But it's all good. Atleast the sun is shining and it's not snowing.

Oh yeah, Jeneva and her mom both did the run.

Obama's first 100 days.

I was watching CNN yesterday, and a photographer from TIME was being interviewed about her behind the scenes journey with Obama. What an incredible opportunity, right? I plan on picking up the magazine this weekend, but I'll share a few pretty cool shots from time.com.

The photographer, Callie Shell, said Obama simply cannot sit still. He'll toss a football with secret service instead of tapping a pen on the desk. He has to stay on the move. The next picture of Michelle and him is genuinely adorable.

Here he is looking out at the South Lawn.

The men's shoes sit on a mat inside the sacred shrine of the Blue Mosque. The pair on the far right belongs to Obama. The pair in the middle belongs to Prime Minister Erdogan. The two at the far left belong to security personnel. As the photographer put it, the photo shows that he is never alone.

When would you ever see a photo of Bush being greeted like this by US troops?

Hoorah Obama!

Topshop.

For those that don't know, Topshop is a store that was created by the supermodel Kate Moss. The original store is in London, and I remember going to last year in search of a birthday present for Meghan. The new store in Manhattan just opened less than a month ago.

I will say that I'm not really into the whole fashion models/designer scene...but there's a lot of buzz about the new store opening down in Soho. Nadia has been, Alli is sending me e-mails about it, so yesterday Beth and I went to check it out. They had a few cute things....but way too expensive.

I find these really trendy places sell way too many of these "garbage bag" dresses:

along with the newest trend in pants:

Ugghhh. Hideous. Whoever creates these designs clearly hates women.

On a positive note, I found a cute pair of cowboy boots. Joey got me some as a Christmas present, but they didn't fit right, so we've been looking for a different pair since.

Huge puffy coat: So long, farewell!

Spring has arrived folks. Last weekend, it was sunny and pretty, but still a bit too cold. This weekend, it was beautiful and warm. So naturally, we've pretty much spent our entire weekend outside.

Friday, we had a nice alfresco lunch in Union Square and walked places instead of taking the subway. That night, our friend Nadya cooked for a group of friends at her place before going to Dustin's birthday party. All of this was done sans that horrible puffy red coat that has been a part of my life for almost 6 months now.

Saturday, we spent the whole afternoon at the Great Lawn in Central Park. The first weekend of spring in New York is the greatest feeling. There is a positive vibe floating around in the air. Thousand of pale bodies in shorts or bikinis soaking in the sun's rays.

I started to take pictures of Blaine and Joey throwing the frisbee....but I got distracted....

by little Ella bean! Her little family is expecting a new baby in 3 weeks, and her "mom" had the apartment to herself (minus kids/husband) this weekend to relax and catch up on sleep. So she was thrilled when I wanted to take Ella out for the day. Look at her face! Uhh, I'm in love.

While laying out, her little Pomeranian friend spotted us and came over to say hello. Her owners are hilarious. It's funny how you get to know the park "regulars" through a little dog.

Weeee! Playtime!

This morning, Ella and I had a nice little walk through the park near Sheeps Meadow.

She spotted a squirrel in the Cherry Blossoms...

causing her awkward ears to go unbalanced.

You can see my (former) office building in this picture on the left.

Let's go fly a kite..

The weather here in NY was absolutely gorgeous today. A little cold, but sunny with blue skies, which was the perfect backdrop for a happy Easter day.

Joey and I started the day off at the old St. Patrick's Cathedral in Soho for mass. We then left super hungry and headed over to Cafe Habana (Elizabeth & Prince St.), this awesome little cuban restaurant for lunch. They're specialty is corn on the cob topped with parmesan cheese/chili powder toppings. Words cannot describe how great it is.

Sheep's Meadow was officially opened today! Walking through the park, you could see the colors of the park coming to life. Trees budding, tulips everywhere, bright yellow flower bushes. We went to the park with a 3 buck kite and Nerf Vortex football in tow to have the best time ever.

As you can see the Cherry Blossom trees are blooming. My favorite!

These pictures were taken with the iphone's 3 megapixel camera, so excuse the quality, but here is Joey gaining control of the kite.

The kite was way more fun than anticipated. I had forgotten just how exciting it is to try and keep it in the air, running around without a care in the world. We were literally waving our geek flag since our kite was Star Wars and loved every minute of it. Ahh, to be a kid again. :)

By the way, Joey has started dating someone else. I take full responsibility, since I set him up on the blind date. I sent out the following e-mail out to the person of his dreams:

"On Wed, Apr 8, 2009 at 5:59 PM, Melissa Serio wrote:

I hope height doesn't offend you, along with wavy, brownish hair, blue eyes, and (keyword) masculine features. So stunning the earth will stand still when you all make eye contact....

How does "I love you man" on Saturday night sound?"

As you can see his date was Ian, and they had a fantastic "bromance" evening. Before the "date", Joey put on nice clothes, styled his hair, and even put cologne on- adding to the ridiculousness of the night. He really thought Ian would go the same route, or maybe even take it to the next level by wearing a tux. But oh no, In showed up in raggedy jeans and a hoodie. When Joey saw him he screamed, "You're wearing that?!" Hahaha...awesome.

This morning.

I got in the elevator at work, push the button for the tenth floor, and in walks Al Roker. Hehe.....
