Catch up time.

This blog has been asleep for a while. Like everywhere else, job searching officially stinks here. Apply, apply, apply...nothing. It's like no matter what, you are under-qualified. See this guy dressed as a banana in front of Jamba Juice? I'm pretty sure he has a PhD. ;)

So, I've been keeping busy by helping this girl Ali out with her walks in Soho. Since the weather's gotten warmer/drier, all of the film crews have been out. Below is a shot of America Ferreda filming for Ugly Betty.

Supermodels using construction pipes as a jungle gym?

Yesterday, on Bond St. they were filming a movie with a winter set. They were spraying cars down with fake snow and unrolling these huge white cotton sheets unto the sidewalk.

What else has been going on...there was a karaoke night in Korea town, Italian dinner party at our place, football game in Central Park, homeless person using the sidewalk as a toilet, night with NY cares kids in the Bronx, planning a nature getaway trip for June, getting excited about Alli's visit up here.

I think that's it!

Dog Walk Against Cancer.

(I stole this picture of us from: http://www.uni-formcity.com/ )

Joey, Ella, and I went to a "Dog Walk Against Cancer" in Riverside Park this morning. Walk and Train, the company I do dog walking for, had a table set up selling cute dog treats and toys for the Lisa Bowman Foundation. Lisa Bowman used to work for Walk and Train, and is currently fighting breast cancer. She was interviewed by NY1, and was the official ribbon cutter for the walk, which is exciting. Here is a link to her website: http://stores.homestead.com/hstrial-CSafford2/StoreFront.bok

Feel free to make a donation. When you purchase accessories, beds, or collars, all of the proceeds go to the fund.

The turnout was awesome for the event, but unfortunately the weather was yucky! I didn't get to bring my camera out there because of it, so there are no pictures unfortunately. But here is one of Colleen with her boxer Luna....cute!

Last night, we wound up in Time Square (sarcastic yippee) for a night at Dave and Buster's for Elizabeth's birthday. Time square is a place where anyone with ADD would go crazy, for obvious reasons. It's loud, crowded, flashy, so it really takes a lot for one individual to stand out of the crowd. Apparently last night, Asia's mother made it happen quite effectively.

Who is Asia you ask? She was a lost child around 46th and Broadway last night. Her strapping mother was running through oncoming traffic shrieking "ASIA! ASIA! ASSSSSIIIAAAAAAA!" She was approaching me and Joey in full force, and I jumped to the side. And Joey....okay, you know how sometimes you are walking in the grocery and there is someone trying to pass, so you move one way, they move the same way, and it goes in an awkward shuffle until you get it right? Haha, well that's what happened to poor Joey and this gargantuan woman last night. So she shoved him *bam* square in his chest almost pushing him down. Wow.

Anywho, Dave and Buster's was fun. I got to whip Joey's butt at the Daytona racing game twice.

Rooftops.

Rooftop parties are a very popular thing in Manhattan during the summer. You put on a cute sundress and sip on some cocktails while hanging out with friends :) Take a look at these two beautiful terraces.

They look pretty similar, right? The only difference is that one is a rooftop fifteenth floor lounge (bottom picture), while the other belongs to a couple's apartment (top photo).

I was scrolling through nymag.com and noticed the crazy similarity. I dogsat for the people that own the crazy apartment with the terrace. Before they moved into this posh Soho pad they sold their house to Bon Jovi! Must-be-nice! Jeez...

On an even crazier note, Justin and Meghan are having a baby GIRL! She's due in October....so exciting! A little baby roaming around.... :) :)

Happy Weekend :)

1/2 Marathon.

Our friend Jeneva did a half marathon this morning in Central Park! Luckily all the marathons/races end right by Tavern on the Green, which is right by our apartment. So we moseyed on over to be moral support.

On the weather widget last night, it was warmer here than New Orleans. It was so hot this morning, they cancelled the full marathon and made it a "fun run" versus a race. Right now, it's 89 degrees....what happened to the 70's? But it's all good. Atleast the sun is shining and it's not snowing.

Oh yeah, Jeneva and her mom both did the run.

Obama's first 100 days.

I was watching CNN yesterday, and a photographer from TIME was being interviewed about her behind the scenes journey with Obama. What an incredible opportunity, right? I plan on picking up the magazine this weekend, but I'll share a few pretty cool shots from time.com.

The photographer, Callie Shell, said Obama simply cannot sit still. He'll toss a football with secret service instead of tapping a pen on the desk. He has to stay on the move. The next picture of Michelle and him is genuinely adorable.

Here he is looking out at the South Lawn.

The men's shoes sit on a mat inside the sacred shrine of the Blue Mosque. The pair on the far right belongs to Obama. The pair in the middle belongs to Prime Minister Erdogan. The two at the far left belong to security personnel. As the photographer put it, the photo shows that he is never alone.

When would you ever see a photo of Bush being greeted like this by US troops?

Hoorah Obama!

Topshop.

For those that don't know, Topshop is a store that was created by the supermodel Kate Moss. The original store is in London, and I remember going to last year in search of a birthday present for Meghan. The new store in Manhattan just opened less than a month ago.

I will say that I'm not really into the whole fashion models/designer scene...but there's a lot of buzz about the new store opening down in Soho. Nadia has been, Alli is sending me e-mails about it, so yesterday Beth and I went to check it out. They had a few cute things....but way too expensive.

I find these really trendy places sell way too many of these "garbage bag" dresses:

along with the newest trend in pants:

Ugghhh. Hideous. Whoever creates these designs clearly hates women.

On a positive note, I found a cute pair of cowboy boots. Joey got me some as a Christmas present, but they didn't fit right, so we've been looking for a different pair since.

Huge puffy coat: So long, farewell!

Spring has arrived folks. Last weekend, it was sunny and pretty, but still a bit too cold. This weekend, it was beautiful and warm. So naturally, we've pretty much spent our entire weekend outside.

Friday, we had a nice alfresco lunch in Union Square and walked places instead of taking the subway. That night, our friend Nadya cooked for a group of friends at her place before going to Dustin's birthday party. All of this was done sans that horrible puffy red coat that has been a part of my life for almost 6 months now.

Saturday, we spent the whole afternoon at the Great Lawn in Central Park. The first weekend of spring in New York is the greatest feeling. There is a positive vibe floating around in the air. Thousand of pale bodies in shorts or bikinis soaking in the sun's rays.

I started to take pictures of Blaine and Joey throwing the frisbee....but I got distracted....

by little Ella bean! Her little family is expecting a new baby in 3 weeks, and her "mom" had the apartment to herself (minus kids/husband) this weekend to relax and catch up on sleep. So she was thrilled when I wanted to take Ella out for the day. Look at her face! Uhh, I'm in love.

While laying out, her little Pomeranian friend spotted us and came over to say hello. Her owners are hilarious. It's funny how you get to know the park "regulars" through a little dog.

Weeee! Playtime!

This morning, Ella and I had a nice little walk through the park near Sheeps Meadow.

She spotted a squirrel in the Cherry Blossoms...

causing her awkward ears to go unbalanced.

You can see my (former) office building in this picture on the left.
